IOWA Wesleyan University

Iowa Wesleyan University is a private four-year liberal arts college in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. Founded in 1842, it ranks as Iowa's first co-educational institution of higher learning and the oldest of its type west of the Mississippi River. The university is affiliated with the United Methodist Church. Located in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, Iowa Wesleyan offers a variety of arts and cultural opportunities for southeast Iowa. Art shows, concerts, lectures, and plays take place throughout the year and most are open to the public at no charge. The Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra is based on campus. Iowa Wesleyan athletics sponsors sixteen NCAA sports and boasts academic scholars. The Tigers compete in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) in all sports except football, which competes in the upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC).
